Hello! My name is Nicholis (you can call me Nic), and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Game Design at Full Sail University in April of 2015. Now, to rewind a few years back…
My Dad brought home the NES (bundled with Super Mario Bros. & Duck Hunt) when I was eight-years-old, and from that point on…life as I knew it would change forever. I spent most of my time playing games like Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, & Mega Man, but I had a few guilty pleasures (Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, anyone?) as well. In my Middle School days, I began to move towards PC games like WarCraft II & Diablo, but I also spent a lot of time on the PlayStation playing Final Fantasy VII (which I still think is one of the greatest games ever made), Medieval, Tomb Raider 2, & Parasite Eve.
I was also very deep into TCG’s like Magic: The Gathering, Rage, Star Wars: TCG, & Star Trek: CCG. I spent many school lunches holed up in a classroom playing with friends. Not long after that, I took to tabletop games like WarHammer: 40,000 (which I still play on a weekly basis), Dungeons & Dragons, and Vampire: Requiem.
Fast-forward to today, and I’m mostly a World of Warcraft, HeartStone, & Pokémon Nerd. I’m such a Blizzard FanBoy it’s ridiculous. Their games are truly something special, and often way ahead of their time. Guys like Chris Metzen (I truly idolize that man), Corey Stockton, and Ion Hazzikostas, & Greg Street have served as such great inspiration & influence for me.
Until recently, I was very uncomfortable with liking the things I do. I was almost ashamed of being a “Nerd”, and tried my best to hide it for fear of being ridiculed or made fun of. If it weren’t for my Wife’s encouragement & support to go to school and pursue something I loved so much, I don’t know that I’d be here writing this right now…it’s actually kind of liberating and surreal to finally be comfortable with who I am now, and doing what I love.
